New Beginnings for the Fall

E-mail Print

As I look outside my office window I see that the leaves are starting to change, kids are walking up and down the street going into the school for practices again, all tell tale signs that school is starting again soon. As you as youth and families prepare to head back to school, Mount Cross offers a word of blessing, support and encouragement.

As the school year kicks off, Wednesday night fellowship dinners begin again on September 8th. This Fall Wednesday Nights will start to undergo some changes. Meal time will still be at 5:30, but come prepared for intentional discussion. There will also be a prayer service following dinner, which will start as a very simple, and will grow and change as the congregation sees fit. This fall there will be High School Bible Study after worship service, for any interested high schoolers, this will replace last year's small groups. In 2011 with the year of the Bible, other Bible Study groups will be starting.

7th-8th graders start confirmation on Wednesday nights starting September 8th. On September 12th, 6th-8th grade youth group will kick off. This time will include food, games, fellowship, Bible Study and worship. All 6th-8th graders are invited, and can always bring a friend. If you are a realational person, and are interested in working with this group, please let Beth know.

There are many other events going on this fall and I encourage you to check out the fall youth news which can be found in the newsletters section of the website. Below are some other important dates to remember.

In 2010 Council approved a new document for Safe Child Practices and Volunteer Guidelines.  Two training opportunities were held by church staff in order to educate our volunteers about these guidelines and how to best work with the children and youth of our congregation.  If you would like more information on the Mount Cross guidelines, you may view them by clicking here, or you may contact our Youth Director, Beth Niggemyer with any questions.

Christmas is almost here!  This Christmas season it seems particularly had to focus on Jesus.  This season is just so busy.

However, the church and youth are still in full swing, so I just wanted to post you on happenings around the church for youth.

On 12/16 we will be caroling throughout the neighborhood after Wednesday night dinner.

On 12/15 and 12/22 the high school youth will be meeting at Forza on 27th for fellowship.

On 12/29 youth 7th-12th grades are invited to come help paint Beth's office.

Also be sure to sign up for the mission trip.

If you are a youth and want text message updates, text Beth (509) 869-1743.  Also join our facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=134217900584).
